Away from the Crowds
The vast majority of visitors to the Lake District never set foot on a serious walk and when the do it is the popular fells and walks near the central spine from Keswick to Windermere which grab their attention. This leaves many other valleys and hills , if not empty, certainly visited much less option. On the 25 walks listed below it is possible to go all day in the summer holidays and see no-one else and that is a joy to many walkers. There are even some quieter walks (such as Grey Crag and Dock Tarn from Watendlath) which are centrally situated but the majority tend to be in the ‘more difficult to get at’ areas to the west, north and east of the National Park. Hidden gems.
