Walking Breaks near Settle

Long Preston is wonderfully situated to explore the south and western Yorkshire Dales and we have teamed up with the Eldon Country House to offer some excellent walking holidays.

Each break includes the following:
3 nights Bed and Breakfast at the Eldon Country House
Maps/Route cards for the area with walks marked on them

Prices per person £189 weekend or £139 midweek (services of a guide £100 per group per day)

Prices per person including full English breakfast based on 2 persons sharing a twin/double room. Supplement for singles £20 per night.

1. Three Peaks Weekend (3 days walking, 3 nights accommodation)

Climb the 3 peaks of Yorkshire separately and therefore comfortably over 3 days by the most attractive route giving time to recover in the evening in one of the 2 village pubs. A good breakfast and packed lunch will set you up for each day.
Day 1 Pen y Ghent from Horton
Day 2 Whernside from Ribblehead
Day 3 Ingleborough from Clapham via Gaping Gill

2. Local Walking Weekend (3 days walking, 3 nights accommodation)

A relaxed exploration of the Settle area taking in the wonderful limestone scenery on 3 relatively easy days. The village of Long Preston has two excellent pubs serving evening meals and a good breakfast will set you up for the day.
Day 1 Villages near Settle (6 miles via Stainforth and Austwick)
Day 2 Lanes above Long Preston (8 miles, low level)
Day 3. Limestone scenery above Feizor (5 miles, easy walking)_

3. Full ’3 Peaks’ in a day (2 days walking, 3 nights accommodation)

24 miles and over 6,000 foot of climbing on this famous challenge. Taking a full two days visit offers the best chance of completing the challenge as the ‘better’ weather day can be chosen’ A guide is advisable on the 3 Peaks day if you are in any way uncertain on the route

Day 1. Enjoy a local walk such as the Settle Loop (10 miles) or the more strenuous Buckden Pike

Day 2. The 3 Peaks of Yorkshire – this can take up to 12 hours (Day1 and Day 2 can be reversed)

4. Navigation Training (dates to be confirmed)
