Very similar to the nearby walk at Underbarrow, the walk between Crossthwaite and Crook takes in some very pleasant countryside, particularly the section over the higher lands near Lord’s Lot. Here little rocky outcrops, short grass paths, drystone walls and isolated farms create a picture postcard few square miles, it is just a shame the area is not a little larger. The walking is not quite as nice below the plateau but I did enjoy Broom lane and the small hamlet of Crossthwaite. The world just passes by here and certainly on the sunny summer’s day I took this walk it felt like a different world to the Lake District.

Recommend: Do not ignore the lands between Windermere and Kendal, it may not be classic Lakeland but offers some peaceful and enjoyable walks.
