Cow Green ReservoirL123
- A peaceful moorland walk of great variety
- Spectacular waterfall at Caudron Snout.
- Follows the Pennine Way along the River Tees
The walk to Cow Green Reservoir provided one of those wow moments of unexpected delight. The weather had been wet but the sheer power of Cauldron Force was something to behold, great torrents of water literally exploding down the 3 different levels which make up the waterfall; many happy minutes were spent scrambling on the rocks to the side of the falls and sitting watching the flowing water. That alone would make the walk worthwhile but actually the entire 8 miles are full of interest and variety, ever changing views set against the backdrop of wild moorland scenery which so chacterises this part of the Pennines.
Recommend: Approach the waterfalls from the river rather than the reservoir and I suggest starting the walk at Langdon Beck
