Robin Hood’s Bay to Whitby

  • One way walk along a cliffside path
  • Great views over the Bay and Whitby town
  • Whitby Abbey is passed enroute

Picture 1 of 6

The stretch of coastline from Robin Hood’s Bay has some wonderful views and typical coastal walking. The up and downs are not too bad (except Maw Wyke Hole) and the path good with the ruins of Whitby Abbey increasingly drawing the eye in the views ahead. It is also the best way to approach Whitby with some excellent views of the town once the abbey is passed. It is just a shame the bus does not go on to Ravenscar with its own spectacular views and gradual down hill walk in to the ‘Bay’.

Recommend: Stay on the bus to Fylingthorpe so you can walk down to the wonderfully named Boggle Hole. Worth doing as it is an idyllic spot.

Travel: The X93/93 leaves Whitby Bus Station at 35 minutes past the hour and takes 20 minutes to Robin Hood’s Bay and a further 5 minutes to Fylingthorpe.
