  • Deer, gardens and woodland
  • Sledmere village is worthy of a closer look

Picture 2 of 6

Sledmere House is a beautiful old country house and makes a lovely walk . Not only are the grounds full of deer, the house and side buildings nice to look at and explore but because the house is set on steeper slopes then there are some great views from the woods to the south. It is a walk to take your time over and to visit some of the sites slightly off route (for example there is the burial lands for the family dogs over the centuries!) The house itself is described as part Georgian, part Edwardian and is the one of the best of its type so it is worth buying the ‘House and Grounds’ ticket. Full details here

Recommend: Take your time in the grounds and enjoy the life of a country squire…for the day.
