High and Low Bentham are neighbouring villages separated by an attractive section of the River Wenning. There is more than enough in the two villages to keep the walker interested whilst the paths on both sides of the riverbank are pleasant rather than spectacular. The intigueing waterfall on the sharp river bend midway between the two villages is certainly one highlight but more so are the great views which are glimpsed in to the wild Lancashire moors or across to Ingleborough and the Yorkshire Dales. It is a quiet unspoilt part of rural Britain, nearly untouched but all the better for it.

Recommend: Even if you are after quiet in high summer it is worth a visit to the riverside at Bentham
