Shorter Walks for All

When I was thinking about short walks in the Lake District I looked at 3 main criteria. For a start they should be short (4.5 miles maximum), they should not involve too much steep climbs (although a few of the smaller fells are included such as Hallin Fell and Gummer’s How) but most important they should have a real Lakeland experience.

The majority of walkers who will take these walks will be those with young families, those who have not done much walking and do not wish to venture far and those of increasing years where the body will simply not go where the mind would like them to do. These walks offer a real Lake District taster.
