Below are some examples of walking breaks that holidaymakers of different experience took with recently.

Example A. 3 days walking route to include Malham and Wharfedale

The holidaymakers were a young couple who wanted a taste of the Yorkshire Dales and had seen Malham on the TV and wished to go. Outside that they were not bothered but would like to stay in different places to get a feel of the area.

“I can’t thank you enough for our fabulous 4 days in the Yorkshire Dales. Your suggested route was incredibly diverse….I am a keen walker who usually spends her holidays walking….it’s my first experience using a business to plan and book our walk, also with luggage transfer, it far exceeded our expectations. Thank You. Natalie McCarthey, Australia.”

We booked them in to Grassington as their base for their night of arrival and their final night leaving 3 days between to walk. On Day 1 they left Grassington and took the limestone trail to Kettlewell where they stayed. On Day 2 they walked over to Malham via Arncliffe in Littondale and Malham Tarn staying in Malham overnight. On the final day they had time in the morning to explore Malham Cove and Gordale Scar before taking the path via Bordley back to Grassington.

Example B. A party of 6 enjoying a week in the heart of the Lake District

The party wanted the accommodation sorted and their large bags moved as they walked through the heart of the Lake District

Starting in Keswick we planned a circular route taking in the main valleys and some of the main fells in the Lake District. The route included Borrowdale, Langdale, Ullswater and Buttermere. We moved their bags between the accommodation which was mainly in pubs but sometimes B & B in the more remote places. As well as using our experience to plan the best route for their party to enjoy the best of the Lakes (including alternative high and low days – weather dependent!) , they appreciated the hassle being removed in finding accommodation and moving their bags.

Example C. A family from America wanted to experience both Lakes & Dales

The first time they had ventured north to walk and could not decide between the Lakes and Dales so wanted to do both. Public Transport.

“Thank you for organising our wonderful break to the Lakes. All the accomodation was brilliant. The walks were amazing – we even had snow up high on our last day. Pubs were lovely…Discovered some new places too. All in all a great holiday. Thanks again Barbara, Klara and the all important Fred!”

Arriving in Settle in the Dales the family walked to Malham and Grassington before joining the fantastic Settle to Carlisle railway towards Carlisle and a bus trip in to Keswick, From here they walked the fells of Borrowdale over 3 days which included a night in Buttermere which they loved. The trip took a week and the added attraction of the Settle to Carlisle railway helped them have a memorable time. They said that they would be back.

Example D. A 4 day holiday in the Howgills

An experienced couple and their friends wanted somewhere a little different to enjoy a few days walking; they knew the Dales and found the Lakes a bit of a hassle. Wanted some good challenging walking.

We booked them in to an Inn in Sedbergh as their base and we suggested 4 walks of varying length. In the end they took 3 including Baugh Fell, a low level exploration of Mallerstang and their favourite, the high walk over the Howgill Fells. They felt that they had always avoided Sedbergh in the past for a reason they could not explain but really enjoyed the town and the area.
