Robinson from Newlands Hause

  • An easy climb to an attractive peak
  • Visit the dark depths of Moss Force
  • The views south are truly inspiring in low light

2417′. Stunning views over the Buttermere valley from High Snockrigg is the highlight of this short walk which I took one early summer morning (I’d just spent the night sleeping in the car,,,its a long story). I had never visited the depths of Moss Force before so took the path in to its depths before scrambling up the rocks beside the impressive waterfall. A path does follow the shoulder a few yards to the west but taking the route direct has always appealed to me. Strolling up Robinson is always a pleasure but this time I simply doubled back and savoured the superb views. The sun was still low in the sky and the valley in shade but the colours and light were excellent..oh if I was only a good photographer.

Recommend: This is a walk for early morning or late evening when the high start and stupendous views are ideal.
