Shorter Walks for All

There is much of interest in the North York Moors ; well kept villages, castles and abbeys, rivers and countryside and all are easily accessible on a short walk.

All the walks here are perfect for those of any age or a bit short of time. Completing each one will certainly give anyone a really good understanding of what makes the North York Moors work.

Each walk is under 5 miles, usually 2 or 3 and involves only limited uphill stretches but for all walks be kitted and booted and the walk is that much more enjoyable.

Short Walk from Osmotherley

This short walk from Osmotherley has excellent views over the village. It climbs a little to the edge of the moors before returning via some attractive woodland. An extension to Cod Beck Reservoir is easy to do.

Rievaulx Abbey walk

Rievaulx Abbey is one of best preserved of the abbeys in the country. It sits on a hillside, near a river and surrounded by woods. This short Rievaulx Abbey walk takes in all of these.

Arden Hall and Coomb Hill

From Hawnby the walk heads past Arden Hall and Coomb Hill. There is plenty of lovely woodland to enjoy and later in the walk some good views over the Hills over Hawnby. The Walk Hawnby is a quiet village set in a very peaceful part of the North York Moors. Any walking from the village
