As well as details of the mountains and the climbs the book offers an excellent perspective of how climbing our mountains has changed over the last 50 years.
The ‘Top 500 Summits’ are the highest 500 mountains in the UK and Ireland with a 500 foot drop on every side. They are listed for the first time in this book.
The majority are in Scotland but there are over 20 each in Wales, England and Ireland. They include all of my favourites, in my case these being An Teallach, Tryfan, Blencathra and the Brandon Mountain.
Thousands of people have climbed one, two or a small number of the mountains in the book but very few have climbed them all. It is a lifetime challenge or just something you can dip in and out of
