I hold a number of 1 and 2 day Navigation Training Courses for both Beginners and those wanting to develop their skills further. The courses are designed to give participants the confidence to walk further and enjoy their days more. 

  • 1 Day Courses held in the Yorkshire Dales most weekends
  • 2 Day Courses held in the Dales or the Lake District
  • Small group sizes

 

Hire a Guide for the Day

On the Coledale Round

Really up to you. If you have ever looked at Pen y Ghent or Scafell Pike and fancied climbing it, but lack the confidence, just ask us and we will take you up. Alternatively, pick your challenge and we will see you round.

  • Choose where you want to go or let us pick a great walk
  • All guides are experienced Mountain Leaders
  • The day will be interesting, fun and challenging

3 Peaks in 3 Days

The 3 Tarns on Whernside

Take your time and enjoy these 3 beautiful mountains (Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent) via their most interesting routes. 

  • Climb each mountain by their best route
  • Join a group of like minded walkers
  • Accompanied by a local and knowledgeable guide

    Really enjoyable and fun course played out in a picturesque part of the country. Jonathon is a natural teacher inspiring you with his own passion for map reading and the outdoors. He is a wealth of knowledge, incredibly patient and has a good sense of humour. The learning is so entertaining and low-key that it almost happens by osmosis. Suddenly at the end of the day you realise you could now plan a route including timings, distance and direction and navigate your way out of almost any situation – completely empowering.

    I now understand why reading a map in bed rivals a good fiction book. It is really fascinating reading and understanding a map and planning a route and something happens in situ once you begin to relate the map in your hand to the land you are walking on. The land takes on a new dimension and it comes to life in new and beautiful ways.

    This course is a must for any walker, mountaineer or climber. It is always stimulating to meet like-minded people with a common interest so it is no problem turning up on your own and you get to spend the day with great people sharing their stories and adventures. Fantastic day out and great value!

    Tick, tick, tick for all my goals achieved. More than happy to plan my own walk now and understand what the map is telling me. Jonathon is a very thorough and patient teacher. A really enjoyable day amongst like-minded people. Many thanks.

    Thank you Jonathan, my day with you was very enjoyable, and gently prodded me. I was encouraged to think about what I was doing in the nicest possible way, and in good company.

    I was helped to reflect on what we learned, and I was helped to think about what I need to do in order to address the rusty areas of my knowledge.
