Thousands of walkers take the 3 Peaks challenge of Yorkshire each year, not all succeed but most do. We are happy to offer a guiding service which will help you complete Pen y Ghent (2,277ft, 694m), Whernside (2,415ft, 736m), and finally Ingleborough (2,372ft, 723m) in the required time. The challenge is to complete the walk in 12 hours and is 24.5 miles in length and involves over 5,000 foot of climbing… which is tough. For the best information about the walk and all that the challenge entails buy the 3 Peaks Book which is available via this link Buy the book Our Guiding Service Some walkers will want to use a guide, some will not. The benefits of using a guide can really be broken down in to 3 main areas: Route finding Although there is a path to follow it is quite possible to take a wrong turning if you are unsure of the route, particularly if the weather is not good. The summits, in particular, can be confusing in cloud, a wrong turning leading to loss of time and potential danger. Confidence A guide will ensure that the best decisions are made for the individuals and the group. They can also assess how quickly the party is going and whether it is likely to complete the challenge but is also fully prepared for any accident. Good Company and local knowledge There are many miles of easy walking and although the views are splendid it is nice to have the knowledge and company of someone who is very familiar with the area and can talk about climbing and walking in Yorkshire and beyond. A guide for the day costs £350 for up to 10 people. If there are more than 10 people then a second guide will be needed. All our guides are Mountain Leaders with up to date First Aid qualifications.
