The views are lovely over the lake and it is a straightforward walk that anyone can achieve. Styhead and Sprinkling Tarn are the highlights but the scenery is spectacular throughout. The Beauty of Ullswater To fully appreciate the beauty of Ullswater take the ferry to the quieter southern shores and walk back. The path is delightful and the ever changing lakeside views always interesting. It is Alfred Wainwright’s favourite lowland walk. The Walk I agree with Wainwright. Derwentwater via Walla Crag The walk reads like a list of ‘must visit’ sites near Keswick. Walla Crag, Ashness Bridge, Surprise View and a return along the shores of Derwentwater to Keswick complete a fine day out. Devoke Water Situated between Eskdale and the Duddon Valley is a delectable area of water, Devoke Water. It is a fisherman’s paradise, very quiet and surrounded by low lying hills. Mellbreak and Crummock Water Mellbreak and Crummock Water sit side by side on the quiet side of the Buttermere valley. Many motorists pass on their way to valley end but few stop at the excellent pub and complete this walk. It is one of the best. The Walk 1,676 ft. Easedale Tarn from Grasmere Easedale Tarn has been the objective of walkers in the Lake District for a 100 years or more. The Victorians loved it and you can see why. Easedale Tarn from Grasmere is a lovely walk alongside waterfalls, pools and climaxed with a large tarn surrounded by a ring of rugged mountains. Wet Sleddale, near Shap Wet Sleddale is hidden away in a quiet corner of the Lake District near Shap. This walk circles the reservoir and ends above it with good views across the valley and beyond. Lands around Loweswater Loweswater is a small lake usually overlooked by those heading up the Buttermere valley. The walk around the lake, particularly around its south western shores, is very pleasant amongst the trees. The Walk I cannot ever remember passing Loweswater let alone stopping and walking its shores before discovering this walk.
