Latrigg and the Keswick Old Railway The walk over Latrigg and returning via the Keswick Old Railway is a must do for anyone staying at Keswick. It includes an easy hill to climb which is more than compensated by the outstanding views. Returning via the Old Railway is an easy and interesting end to the walk. Latterbarrow from Hawkshead The summit of Latterbarrow is an excellent place to view the Coniston fells and much of the south western Lakes. Climbing Latterbarrow from Hawkshead is, in itself, very straightforward on a very good path. The Walk 803′. For many years I never realised that there was an excellent short walk near Hawkshead. Walk along the Langdale Valley The Langdale Valley is ringed by spectacular hikes up to the mountains. The best are listed below. However this walk takes you along the beautiful valley floor between Elterwater and the New Dubngeon Ghyll Hotel. Good walking along Great Langdale Beck with views to the fells around. Barrow from Braithwaite This short, but rewarding, walk up Barrow from Braithwaite has excellent views. It offers a great vantage point for understanding the layout of Coledale Round as well as good views north towards Blencathra and Skiddaw. The Walk 1,494 ft. Derwentwater walk Use the excellent ferry service to enjoy this Derwentwater walk without having to walk the 4 miles return from Keswick. The paths pick their way amongst the trees on the shoreline and the views over the lake are always interesting. It is the best part of Derwentwater and very straightforward. Elter Water A walk round Elter Water will bring some easy walking and excellent views. Walk round Humphrey Head Ever since my children went to Humphrey Head outdoor centre I have been intrigued by the place. Eel Tarn in Eskdale For a short walk in to some rugged, quiet, typical Lakeland scenery look no further than Eel Tarn in Eskdale. Lily Tarn above Ambleside Visiting Lily Tarn above Ambleside makes for an excellent short walk. It is ideal for visitors who do not want to walk far but experience an area of traditional Lake District. Short walk on Blencathra Threlkeld is the base to enjoy this short walk on Blencathra. The views are amazing, particularly above Blease Farm.
