Tryfan Tryfan is magnificent. It is usually voted the best mountain in Britain in any surveys. Realistically it is a scramble (many places hands on) for the best part of 2,000 feet from the shores of Llyn Ogwen. Pick your route up the face and have one of the best days in Britain. Richmond to Easby Abbey This is a highly enjoyable short walk along the River Swale to Easby Abbey. The route follows the Old Railway to a bridge over the River Swale before returning along a riverside path. Following the walk spend some time in Richmond, its shops, pubs and impressive castle. Fell Head in the Howgills Fell Head is a graceful mountain on the western edge of the Howgills. There are extensive views over the M6 (!) to the eastern Lakeland fells. The climb is a pleasure on good paths and it is easy to extend the walk towards the highest mountain in the Howgills, the Calf. Martindale and Beda Fell Martindale is a quiet valley back of Ullswater. Beda Fell is the broad, low ridge to its west. Carlton to Osmotherley walk Take the bus and return on the Carlton to Osmotherley walk along the Cleveland Way. The walking to Scarth Nick is typical for the North York Moors. Further on the views across the Vale of York from Scarth Nick are impressive. Oxenhope and Ogden Water walk Reservoirs, moors, golf courses and a wind farm add character to this walk on Ovenden Moor from Oxenhope. Ogden Water is particularly impressive. Walk round Derwentwater Derwentwater is one of the most popular and attractive of the Lake District lakes but a complete circuit is rare. The reason for this is the proximity of the road to the eastern shore. However this walk proves it is possible and very satisfying. Snowdon via Y Lliwedd The southern part of the Snowdon Horseshoe is the least busy part of the mountain. Snowdon via Y Lliwedd is also one, if not the, best approach to the summit. The Walk I had climbed Y Lliwedd twice before but only as a concluding peak to the Snowdon Horseshoe.
