Malham Tarn and Littondale Between Malham Tarn and Littondale lies a broad expanse of high moorland covered in limestone outcrops and scars. The villages in Littondale are delightful. Pick up a cup of tea half way! Boulsworth Hill and Wycoller Only as a viewpoint does Boulsworth Hill have something to recommend climbing it. However combined with Trawden and in particular Wycoller it becomes the focus of an excellent walk. Riverside walk along the Swale From Reeth there is a lovely Riverside walk along the River Swale. The wooded banks of the river and stretches of open hillside with stone barns and walls make for a pleasant half day exploration. Pendle Hill walk The splendid views from the isolated summit of Pendle Hill disguise a more morbid secret. The witches of Pendle Hill walk follows the journey of the poor Pendle witches were forced to take before being murdered. This walk showcases Pendle Hill in a much better light! Fair Snape Fell Fair Snape Fell is one of the highest summits in the Forest of Bowland. The circular walk takes you up on to the ‘real’ summit on a good track but the crossing to the trig is through some rough peat hags. Aysgarth Falls Aysgarth Falls is a series of three waterfalls (Upper, Mid, Lower) on the River Ure in Wensleydale. The walk along the river is set in pretty woodland. However there are access points to the waters themselves at both the Upper Lower and Upper Falls, a viewing platform for the Middle falls. Walking near Feizor There is some lovely limestone walking near Feizor. Scars and pavements abound. In addition the views across to Pen-y-Ghent are good and the cafe in Feizor is the best around. The Walk There is something immensely satisfying about walking through the limestone of the southern Dales. Grassington to Skipton walk Take the bus from Skipton and then return over the moors on a one way walk from Grassington to Skipton. On either side of the bleak moors are the villages of Linton, Thorpe and Embsay. The Walk Embsay Moor can be particularly bleak in bad weather. Crosby Ravensworth and Maulds Meaburn The walk combines the two attractive villages of Crosby Ravensworth and Maulds Meaburn before heading on to the moors. It is a quiet and unspoilt shortish walk in this rarely visited part of the country. The Walk The River Lyvennet villages of Crosby Ravensworth and Maulds Meaburn are a couple of hidden gems. Rogan’s Seat from Keld Rogan’s Seat lies within a large stretch of moorland in Upper Swaledale. The views are interesting rather than spectacular and the summit cairn a bit of a damp squib! The climb from Keld is the most enjoyable approach. The Walk I first came across Rogan’s Seat whilst Marilyn bagging.
