Richmond to Marske There is a few options on the walk from Richmond to Marske. I prefer taking to Wycliffe Scar on the way out and the River Swale by return. The views from Wycliffe Scar particularly near the Monument are genuinely spectacular. The Walk This is my favourite walk out of Richmond. Latrigg and the Keswick Old Railway The walk over Latrigg and returning via the Keswick Old Railway is a must do for anyone staying at Keswick. It includes an easy hill to climb which is more than compensated by the outstanding views. Returning via the Old Railway is an easy and interesting end to the walk. Mellbreak and Crummock Water Mellbreak and Crummock Water sit side by side on the quiet side of the Buttermere valley. Many motorists pass on their way to valley end but few stop at the excellent pub and complete this walk. It is one of the best. The Walk 1,676 ft. Baugh Fell Baugh Fell is a remote mountain lying to the east of Sedbergh and offers the greatest challenge to those climbing the ‘Dales 30’. It is a large area of featureless moorland rising to an interesting summit area. The views back west to the Howgills are superb. Thrunton Wood and Long Crag Thrunton Wood and Long Crag make a very enjoyable walk from the east (just off the A697). The myriad of forestry tracks are straightforward to follow and the views from Croe Crags and ultimately Long Crag are very impressive. Pillar and the Mosedale Horseshoe One of the best day’s out in the Lake District is to climb Pillar and complete the Mosedale Horseshoe. Most of the walk is on a high rough ridge with particularly impressive views of Ennerdale and Wasdale. High Stile over Buttermere The High Stile ridge walk is definitely one of the tougher walks in the Lake District. The mileage is not big but the steep climb and rough, rocky paths make for a challenging but extremely satisfying day. The views, if you get them, are fantastic. Muncaster Fell Muncaster Fell is the broad ridge to the west of lower Eskdale. Further west is the Ravenglass to Eskdale mini railway, to the east the lower level return. The ridge itself is a lovely with great views across to the coast and Irish Sea. The Walk 758′. Mickleden to Pike O’Stickle From Langdale head up the Mickleden valley to Pike O’Stickle. The climb is quite straightforward to the foot of the pike. Here a rocky scramble takes you to the summit which is perched dramatically over the valley. The Walk Many thousands of walkers trail up the steep eroded path to Stickle Tarn and complete a 5 Rating: Difficult walk 6.5mi Distance: 6.5 miles / 10.4 km 606m Elevation: 606m / 1988ft
Easedale Tarn from Grasmere Easedale Tarn has been the objective of walkers in the Lake District for a 100 years or more. The Victorians loved it and you can see why. Easedale Tarn from Grasmere is a lovely walk alongside waterfalls, pools and climaxed with a large tarn surrounded by a ring of rugged mountains. Bamburgh to Budle Bay walk Bamburgh can be very busy, Budle Bay is not. Budle Bay lies barely a mile and a half to the north of Bamburgh and is a wonderful stretch of sand with views over Ross Sands to Holy Island. Round Hill on Urra Moor Chop Gate in Bilsdale is the start of this walk to Round Hill on Urra Moor, the highest point in the North York Moors. The moorland walking on Urra Moor is on very good paths with excellent views.
