Riverside walk along the Swale From Reeth there is a lovely Riverside walk along the River Swale. The wooded banks of the river and stretches of open hillside with stone barns and walls make for a pleasant half day exploration. Kendal to Windermere walk The best walk from Kendal to Windermere is via the Dales Way long Distance footpath. This one way walk passes through rolling countryside, unspoilt tarns with great views over the southern lakes. Use the bus to get to Kendal. Fair Snape Fell Fair Snape Fell is one of the highest summits in the Forest of Bowland. The circular walk takes you up on to the ‘real’ summit on a good track but the crossing to the trig is through some rough peat hags. Aysgarth Falls Aysgarth Falls is a series of three waterfalls (Upper, Mid, Lower) on the River Ure in Wensleydale. The walk along the river is set in pretty woodland. However there are access points to the waters themselves at both the Upper Lower and Upper Falls, a viewing platform for the Middle falls. Climbing Glaramara Climbing Glaramara from Borrowdale is a joy. The mountain itself has rocky outcrops, hidden hollows and increasingly impressive views north over Derwentwater. Improve the walk by heading along the wide, rigged ridge past Rosthwaite Fell to the Tarn at Leaves. The Walk 2,560 feet. I have always been attracted to Glaramara. Steeple and Haycock from Ennerdale This is an unusual route to approach these fine mountains. Walk along the shores of Ennerdale before striking steeply up the direct ridge of graceful Steeple and on to Haycock.
