Walk round Stock’s Reservoir The walk round Stock’s Reservoir is full of interest. Much of it stays close to the water’s edge. However in places the tracks venture inland and are much the better for it. The Walk Knowing the history of Stock’s Reservoir helps increase the enjoyment of the walk. Ruined castles near Dunsop Bridge This Dunsop Bridge walk starts with a nice riverside stroll up Langden Brook. However on turning south the moors close in and the going becomes much rougher. The Walk Maybe the title of this walk is misleading. Nicky Nook Nicky Nook is an easy hill to climb near Lancaster on the fringes of the Pennine moors. However its reduced height is more than made up for by the excellent views and interesting walking. Fair Snape Fell Fair Snape Fell is one of the highest summits in the Forest of Bowland. The circular walk takes you up on to the ‘real’ summit on a good track but the crossing to the trig is through some rough peat hags. Footsteps of Tolkein There is little doubt that the area around Stonyhurst College provided some of the inspiration for Lord of the Rings. The walk itself passes the college before heading down to the river, following it back to Hurst Green.
